Frequently asked questions about secondment

If this is your first time hearing about secondment, don’t worry—it's a great way to gain experience, work with several industry leaders, and still have the security of being employed by YER. Here are answers to some of the most common questions about secondment to help you understand how it works. If you have more questions, feel free to reach out to your consultant.

As a seconded professional, you’ll sign an employment contract with YER. This means that while you’ll be working at one of our client companies, you remain employed by YER. We handle your pay, benefits, and support throughout your assignment, while you focus on doing your job at the client company.

You’ll enjoy the same working conditions as employees directly hired by the client company in comparable roles. Plus, YER offers additional benefits, such as coaching, training, and masterclasses, to help you grow professionally. Your YER consultant will explain all the details specific to your contract and industry.

Absolutely! Many professionals start on secondment and later receive permanent job offers from the client after the agreed period. If you’d rather stay with YER, you can also move on to new and exciting projects. We’ll help guide you through the different options available.

This varies from one project to another. Some projects are short, while others can last over a year. On average, projects are about a year and a half, but it all depends on the industry and role. If you want to know more about specific opportunities, your YER consultant can provide you with personalized advice.

Yes, in many cases this is possible. At the end of your temporary contract(s), you can transfer to the client or accept another temporary contract from YER. Our professionals are increasingly choosing temp-to-perm placements. This means that at the end of the agreed minimum temporary employment period, you will be employed by the client.

No, you won’t. As a seconded professional through YER, you’ll earn a salary that’s the same or even higher than what employees in similar roles at the client company make. The agreement between YER and the client doesn’t affect your pay.

Hiring through secondment helps companies save time and find the right talent quickly. With YER’s extensive network and recruitment services, companies can focus on their business while we handle the hiring process and place talented professionals like you.

YER will pay your salary directly. Even though you’ll be working at a client company, YER is your employer and takes care of your salary and benefits.

Your salary will be deposited into your bank account at the end of every month.

No, you have the same rights as any other employee. You can’t be dismissed more easily or quickly than employees hired directly by the company. The same notice periods and protections apply to you as they would for any permanent staff member.
