Role Description
You will join their 'Damage Surveillance and Control' team. They develop in-house applications that support the operational and decision-making processes of operators and managers on board naval ships. Examples include the Automatic Advisory Functions and the Electronic Incident Board, which guide users through procedures effortlessly. You will develop new functionalities for these applications and integrate them with their existing systems.
You will assist in migrating current applications to the new Rhodium 2025 architecture, which is based on a frontend with HTML5/Typescript/React.js and a backend based on C#. You will also contribute to developing completely new applications for newly built naval vessels. Your tasks will include providing input for meetings with the Royal Netherlands Navy and other stakeholders and demonstrating new functionalities during presentations. You will write documentation such as Software Requirement Specifications and develop automated tests.
Our partner specializes in the system integration of electrical and automation systems on board naval vessels, submarines, and superyachts. This complex yet fascinating field is filled with innovations. Each vessel is custom-made for the client, and even after delivery, they remain responsible for maintenance and upgrades throughout its entire life cycle.
In their innovation department, Portfolio Management & Innovation (PI), they design and develop the systems used in their onboard projects. They are seeking a C# Software Engineer with a passion for ships to join this department. This is a 32-40 hour per week position based in Schiedam.

Requirements
You are a software specialist for whom delivering quality is second nature. You see potential improvements and can concretely implement them, for example, in the software deployment process. You can write functional design specifications, enjoy tackling complex projects, and love sharing your knowledge with team members. You work in a structured manner and recognize the importance of good documentation. Additionally, they require:
- A completed higher professional education (HBO) in a technical field;
- At least 3 years of experience with C# software development in Agile projects (Scrum, Kanban);
- Experience with frameworks such as .Net 5.0(+), ASP.NET Core, REST, DDS;
- Experience with Microservices (event-driven);
- Experience with tools such as TFS-Git, MS Visual Studio, Docker;
- Experience with Windows 10 and Linux;
- Excellent command of the Dutch language;
- Willingness to provide a Certificate of No Objection (VGB);
- Possession of Dutch nationality and origin from a NATO country.
