As (Sr.) Technical Product Author, you increase the customer satisfaction and productivity by providing outstanding, high-quality user information. You and your team design and develop technical product content and documentation, such as mechanical assembly, installation, maintenance, packaging manuals, or technical data sheets.

The emphasis is on purposiveness, comprehensibility and customization to the target-user. A majority of the content and documents are visually prepared and preferably use less text like animations.

You work closely with colleagues to keep all created topics up to date and complete and maximize reuse from our Component Content Management System.

Your Position

As Technical Product Author, you increase the customer satisfaction and productivity by providing outstanding, high-quality user information. You and your team design and develop technical product content and documentation, such as mechanical assembly, installation, maintenance, packaging manuals, or technical data sheets. The emphasis is on purposiveness, comprehensibility and customization to the target-user. A majority of the content and documents are visually prepared and preferably use less text like animations. You work closely with colleagues to keep all created topics up to date and complete and maximize reuse from our Component Content Management System.

Tasks and responsibility

• Compose and write user information e.g. manuals, animations and training material.
• Proactively obtain the necessary information from the engineer, customer and / or end user.
• Understand technical constructions / machines in outline and transform technical information to guidance that meet end user requirements
• Apply documentation style, terminology guidelines and content model from Vanderlande.
• Transform technical specifications and inputs into guidance that meet end user requirements / needs
• Review and assess the quality of work from colleagues, to secure and share knowledge.
• Effectively participate on projects and identify/meet key milestones.
• Ability to identify, manage, and/or escalate issues and risks to timelines.
• Master your personal planning, provide accurate feedback on progress, status, planning.

Your Department

The Veghel based department, Global Learning & Content Development, is responsible for customer training and documentation delivery for Airport, Parcel and Warehouse projects world-wide. The department also works for the business unit Technology to deliver all manuals in product development. The team consists of around 40 professionals, working from several offices world-wide. They are dedicated to deliver an optimal knowledge transfer to their customers and Vanderlande employees for them to understand how to safely build, operate and maintain their systems.

Your Profile

• Higher vocational education, with a (Mechanical) Engineering background
• > 3 years relevant experience, preferably in the field of logistic process automation, capital goods industry or industrial system integration.
• Successfully manage competing deadlines and balance priorities
• Didactically inclined with the desire to share knowledge and experience.
• Socially engaged, team player, an excellent communicator at all levels, results oriented, determined and confident.
• Have an influential, proactive, problem-solving and conscientious style.
• Have the desire and drive to translate expert understanding into user effective information.
• Speak, read and write on a professional level English. A similar level in another foreign language would be an advantage.
• Specialist application knowledge on f.i. Solid Works Composer, XML editor, Content Management Systems, MS Office.
• Experience with DITA is a plus.
