Senior Project Engineer Structural

The Project Engineer Construction/Structural is accountable for a portion of the single discipline Construction scope for a project, managed by a team under their leadership. They are responsible for the scope, planning, and budget of the assigned work. For each discipline, they ensure a coordinated, integrated, high-quality, and timely development of the final design, basic principles, detailed engineering, and documentation in drawings, 3D models, and other information carriers, such as data sheets, from the moment of handover by the Lead Engineer. The PE ensures quality and compliance with standards, procedures, and regulations within the project and maintains multidisciplinary alignment with PEs of other disciplines. They contribute to the department's development by supervising and training colleagues, enhancing quality standards in consultation with the Lead Engineer, and fostering knowledge and innovation within the field.

Technical Responsibilities:

• Ensure compliance with specifications, internal and external (project) requirements, and regulations.
• Conduct technical assessments of the manufacturability and feasibility of the yacht in consultation with other disciplines.
• Support the Project Manager Engineering (PME) in defining the scope.
• Oversee project development stages, approve designs, resolve complex technical issues, and ensure adherence to relevant regulations such as Class and Flag.
• Identify technical bottlenecks and provide possible (interdisciplinary) solutions and arguments to support choices.
• Alert the PME to missing or incorrect information, bottlenecks, and other critical issues.
• Collaborate with other Project Engineers to ensure multidisciplinary consideration within a project.

Quality Assurance:

• Provide clear and executable instructions to engineers (internal and possibly external) regarding technical and qualitative requirements for drawings and other information carriers.
• Offer coaching and guidance in the professional development of engineers and supervise the correct and timely processing of all information, specifications, and possible changes in the drawing.
• Supervise the inspection of drawings and other information carriers before they are sent to the site and/or inspection authorities.
• Monitor the quality of project work.
• Ensure the quality of the project-specific SOW document.

Budget, Progress, and Planning:

• Participate in site and customer team meetings.
• Support the PME in creating the planning.
• In consultation with the PME and stakeholders, draft a partial schedule for drawings to be made.
• Inform the PME about the planning and progress of their own discipline.
• Distribute/coordinate project work within their own team of engineers or subcontractors.
• Act as information and documentation manager for the project and deliver to the PME.

Communication:

• Directly interact with the Owner's team to align project objectives with their expectations, negotiate requirements, and provide regular updates on project status.
• Coordinate with the PME for substantive assessment, consultation, progress, and reporting on activities.
• Align with the Project Lead for discipline-specific matters.
• Consult with the Lead Engineer for technical knowledge and development.
• Guide and control (Jr, Sr) Engineers within their own discipline.
• Obtain and provide information, coordination, and consultation with fellow (Project) Engineers within and outside their own discipline regarding interdisciplinary design.
• Engage in project-based consultation, coordination, and agreement on the design.
• Supervise subcontractors in outsourcing for transfer, supervision, and quality control of the design.
• Coordinate and exchange information about the design with external contacts or relations.
• Discuss equipment interface information with suppliers.
• Review engineering output and collect feedback from Production.

• At least 5 years of work experience in a similar position, preferably within the yacht building industry.
• Knowledge of the entire construction process of seaworthy (super) yachts and excellent command of English, both spoken and written.
• Proficient with CAD drawing software, Team Centre NX, and other basic routines.
