Position Summary
Delivering better Responsible Investment (RI) insights to our investors is one of the key themes in AlpInvest’s RI approach. The AlpInvest RI team is looking for an RI Data Analyst to support the further development of sustainability and climate reporting and analysis on our portfolio, which is becoming increasingly important for the Company’s investor base. In this role, you will perform portfolio analysis and prepare investor reporting, based on the sustainability data you will have helped to collect and process, including on specific topics like climate change and diversity, equity & inclusion. Further, you will prepare RI fundraising materials and regulatory sustainability reporting for the investment programs and the firm. You will be closely working together with the other Responsible Investment team members and get direct exposure to AlpInvest’s investment and reporting teams to collect information and convey findings. This involves dealing with a broad set of information to create, manage, analyze, and communicate on RI developments within AlpInvest and its portfolio.
Primary Responsibilities
- Data management and analysis
- Collect, process and analyze RI information and portfolio company ESG metrics
- Optimize use of internal systems to facilitate KPI data management (including Excel, Sigma, Snowflake) and explore further automation possibilities
- Setting up and maintaining dashboards, testing for internal consistency, overseeing data quality, designing automation initiatives
- Prepare RI reporting, RI fundraising materials and other RI communications to investors and regulators.
- Monitor the portfolio for relevant ESG developments and identify opportunities for engagement with fund managers on sustainability topics

The compensation range for this role is specific to Amsterdam and takes into account a wide range of factors including but not limited to the skill sets required/preferred; prior experience and training; licenses and/or certifications.

Additionally, the hired professional may also be eligible to participate in an annual discretionary incentive program, the award of which will be dependent on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
Education & Certificates
- University degree in Econometrics, Data Science, Engineering (preferably with supplementary degree in Finance or Economics), (Quantitative) Finance or Economics with strong quantitative profile
Professional Experience
- Preferred 6-12 months of experience (either permanent, temporary or internship roles); experience in quantitative analysis, valuation concepts, financial modelling a plus.
Competencies & Attributes
- Strong analytical capabilities, Excel and database skills. Familiarity with programming and data visualization tools is preferred.
- Proactive attitude with ability to critically reflect on own work and taking initiative to improve processes.
- High level of attention to detail
- Good written and oral communication skills in English (Dutch language skills not a pre-requisite)
- Interest in RI / ESG and willingness to continue learning in this rapidly developing field
- Ability to work effectively in an international environment, both as part of a team and independently
- Can manage work and a wide variety of projects occurring simultaneously
