What You Will Do as a Senior FEM Engineer
Your expertise in modeling and analyzing structural components such as longitudinal strength, vibrations, and specific details will take center stage. Finite Element Methods (FEM) are a critical aspect of the engineering process, requiring precision, innovation, and deep technical knowledge. Your work ensures the optimization of structures, contributing to the safety, durability, and overall success of the vessels.
As a Senior FEM Engineer, you will manage multiple projects, serve as a knowledge resource for colleagues, and lead a portion of FEM work packages. You will collaborate closely with team members and stakeholders to address technical challenges and provide insights that enhance both projects and the organization’s competitive position.
Your Responsibilities:
- Analyze, review, and improve shipbuilding structures.
- Oversee and execute project-based tasks daily.
- Attend and contribute to technical meetings.
- Support the development and growth of the FEM knowledge center.
- Assist in creating and testing tools and methodologies.
- Act as the primary point of contact for specific FEM work packages.

- Competitive salary (€47,000–€73,000 gross annually, including a 13th-month bonus), a non-contributory pension, and generous vacation allowances (25 vacation days + 13 ADV days)
- A higher professional or university-level education in a relevant field.
- Over four years of experience as a FEM/Structural Engineer; experience as a Lead Engineer is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of ship structures, including experience with classification societies (e.g. LR, DNV, BV).
- Proficiency with 3D CAD software (e.g., NX, Inventor, SolidWorks).
- Advanced skills in FEM for static and dynamic analyses.
- Experience with commercial FEM software (e.g., Ansys, NASTRAN, Femap, RFEM).
- Programming skills for tool development (e.g., VBA, Python) are an advantage.
- Proficiency in English (spoken and written); Dutch language skills are a plus.
