Senior Software Engineer (C++) who will work in Image Acquisition & Detection and add value to high complex electron microscope!
As a part of the R&D organization, based at Thermo Fisher Scientific - Eindhoven, the Image Acquisition & Detection (IA&D) -team offers software solutions to perform data acquisitions from different types of detectors and/or cameras. The Acquisition Server, collecting data from the detectors and cameras, is continuously developed and maintained. It serves various applications (clients) running on a microscope. We use a wide variety of innovative, industry standard technologies, languages and tools to develop software targeted at both Windows and Linux platforms. Some examples are C++ 17/20, gRPC, MSVC, CMake, Conan, Jenkins etc. We are looking for a hardworking experienced C++ software engineer to strengthen the development team at our client! You will be a valuable member of an international software team, which is committed to specify and develop software in an Agile environment for the latest EMPAD G2 detector. You will work together with the team's Technical Lead to define, communicate, and improve the shared design view, validate technology assumptions, evaluate alternatives, and slice higher-level epics into smaller stories.

- This position will start with an one year contract via YER. After this year you will make a takeover step to a contract at Thermo Fisher.
- During this first year YER will offer an yearly salary between: €60.000 and €80.000 (all-in).25-40 holidays per year

Requirements:
- Have experience with development of firmware/software close to hardware. -
- Are a skilled programmer in C ++ (Linux & Windows).
- Familiar with C#, Python, Bash.
- Have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and has shown understanding of software development principles and practices.
- Can design and program for optimized performance.
- Are familiar with: o Cross-platform compilation (Windows/Linux) – Docker o CONAN/Artifactory, o Debian, o WIX (installer creation), o Jenkins (pipeline) and o GIT (version control)
- Can quickly gain knowledge in a complicated domain
- Is a great teammate who knows how to drive engagement and has knowledge of agile practices (SAFe/Scrum) - Familiar with and able to practice TDD.
Overall responsibilities are:
- Responsible for the quality of the produced software (including test code)
- Designs, codes, documents, tests (automated), maintains and deploys software. - Applies Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery - Using technical solutions that conform to requirements with a strong focus on end-users, performance, safety, security, maintainability. - Actively participates in sprint planning, daily stand-up meetings, sprint reviews, sprint retrospectives and backlog refinement. Minimal Education / Experience: - MSc or BSc degree in Software Engineering - 5+ years as software engineer in industrial software development environment
