Availability for a wide range of high-tech manufacturing equipment used for amongst others: Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD), Plasma Enhanced Vapor Deposition (PECVD), Dry Etch (Plasma Etching), HighTemperature processing, Wet Etch, Wafer Bonding, Lithography and Metrology. With several external customers all around the world, our products find their use in a broad range of high-tech applications that range from sensors in your smartphone and the ever increasing and accelerating Internet of Things applications to safety components in your car electronics, to high-tech biomedical innovations.
Role:
Keeping the high-tech semicon process equipment in the MEMS Foundry in optimal condition. You will be working on a broad range of high-tech equipment in one of our specialized technology clusters: Furnaces (high temperature, oxidation, annealing), ALD & Dry Etching Cluster Besides your dedicated work in this cluster, you will closely co-operate with your department colleagues
who cover the other clusters:
- Wet etching
- Lithography
- PVD & PECVD
- Wafer Bonding
- Metrology.

As a Senior Maintenance Engineer, you:
- Take ownership of the appointed cluster systems and equipment; including uptime, Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF), Mean Time To Repair (MTTR). Review and analyze the performance. Initiate, design and execute improvements and upgrades.
- Are responsible for developing and implementing approaches for systematic monitoring of equipment with the purpose of timely planning and executing preventive maintenance.
- Use appropriate methods and tools for engineering and repair activities.
- Initiate and plan Preventive Maintenance actions (PM), develops the maintenance plans, communicates to 'owners', plans the evaluations on PM, tracks modifications in the PM plans.
- Are responsible for formal release for use of equipment following (preventive) maintenance.
- Are responsible for maintenance related documentation (Eg.: Preventive Maintenance procedure)
- Are responsible for improvement of methods and tools, including benchmarking with relevant external stakeholders, Evaluation and selection of suppliers.
- Staying in close contact with equipment owners and operations technicians before, during and after maintenance for an optimal planned and executed maintenance.
- Performing the planned and unplanned maintenance, including root cause analysis (RCA), maintenance planning, evaluation, documentation and continuous improvements. Communicate multi-level about issues.
- Are project owner for small modifications in existing tools.
- Write the technical specifications (with the ESH issues) for new systems and equipment or modifications (as member of MDT team). Design and execute the technical acceptance test (IQ,OQ). Determine the spare part policy as result of a risk analysis, making sure that used spare parts and consumables are re-ordered.
- Determines ESH solutions on equipment-issues after a risk analysis, complies with the ESH policy, rules and regulations. Enforces compliance.
- Designs the disposal protocol (with the ESH issues) on redundant systems and equipment.
- Develops and maintains a high-level, in-depth knowledge of a wide range of systems, equipment and processes.
- Coaches Maintenance Engineers & Technicians on a day-to-day base as member of the maintenance and cluster teams.
- Working in a safe way for the team, the equipment and the environment.
- Joining crash teams for complicated machine/process failures and joining Kaizen improvement teams.
Your Team:
The Maintenance engineer MEMS reports to the Manager Equipment & Maintenance Engineering in business unit MEMS & Micro devices within Philips Engineering Solutions.
You will be part of the MEMS maintenance group. This very experienced team is responsible for the availability and uptime of the processing equipment that is used in the development and production processes of MEMS.
To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience:
- Bachelor/master certified in a technical discipline relevant to the industry (electronics, mechatronics, physics, materials science, mechanics, chemical engineering)
- Preferably several years of experience as maintenance engineer in a production environment and/or as a service engineer performing diverse and complex root cause analysis and problem solving.
- Experience with MEMS and/or semiconductor manufacturing is a strong pro.
- No 9-5 mentality. Willingness to work in evenings or the weekend in case of an occasional emergency/urgency.
- Eager to learn the technical details of all equipment.
- Well skilled to read electrical and mechanical drawings.
- (Basic) knowledge of (computer) control systems, PLC’s, networks.
- Willing to work in a clean-room environment.
