Passionate about yacht design? Bring your vision and talent to an exciting role where your designs come to life on the open seas.
As an Exterior Engineer, you will be responsible for designing yacht exterior components, working closely with colleagues from disciplines such as Exterior, Interior, Mechanical, Structural Engineering, and Naval Architecture on large-scale projects to ensure an impeccable final product. Your proficiency in modern 3D CAD systems will allow you to manage the design and processing of all necessary information and specifications. Moreover, you will collaborate with the design department and occasionally with external yacht designers.
The technical challenges in this role are driven by the clients' desires and dreams, making design, style, comfort, and innovation critical elements of your work.
Independently, you will set up, sketch, and develop exterior parts of the yacht, including furniture, stairs, swimming pools, sliding doors, and helicopter decks. You will create various solutions for integrating complex components, often working with incomplete or evolving information. Ensuring the safety and comfort of guests on board, as well as compliance with regulations for access doors and ventilation openings, will be key responsibilities.
Your ability to balance the overall vision with detailed aspects, consider manufacturability from a technical design perspective, and generate multiple solutions for complex issues will make you a successful engineer. Following, documenting, and/or establishing work methods and procedures will be advantageous. Your flexibility will also be crucial, as changes frequently arise during the engineering process.
You will maintain constant communication with the Project Engineer to exchange information and discuss the exterior design, collectively reporting progress to the Project Manager Design. Hierarchically, you will report to the Team Leader of Exterior, Interior, and Mechanical Engineering.
This organization is responsible for the design, basic engineering, and all calculations needed for custom-built superyachts, serving as the technical and creative hub for research and development. As an engineer, you will make a significant contribution through construction, mechanical engineering, and naval architecture, involving calculations, fitting, and measuring, all while combining insight and ingenuity. Will you help make dreams come true?

- A gross monthly salary between €3.500 and €4.200 (based on knowledge and experience).
- 38 days off, consisting of 25 vacation days and 13 ADV days.
- An organization in full development where your qualities and talents are valued.
- An environment with ample opportunities for further development, such as gaining knowledge in your field and working in integrated engineering teams with the shipyard (this may also mean working at another location occasionally).
- Working for the world market leader in full-custom yacht building.
- The possibility of hybrid working (home or office in Hoofddorp).
- A higher professional education (HBO) level of thinking and working, with a completed relevant degree in areas such as Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or Naval Architecture.
- Between 0-4 years of experience in yacht or shipbuilding.
- Ability to work independently, methodically, and accurately, along with strong communication skills.
- Primarily technically driven, with a good sense of form and style.
- Experience with 3D modeling and drafting software (knowledge of NX is a plus).
- Result-oriented, quality-conscious, and proactive.
