This company is renowned for its innovative and high-quality design and engineering of luxury custom yachts.
As a Structural Engineer, you will work closely with colleagues from different disciplines on large-scale projects to achieve the ultimate goal: creating a superyacht. Within the project team, you will constantly interact with your colleagues to exchange information, coordinate tasks, and discuss design aspects. You will report to a (Sr.) Project Engineer Structural and, on a hierarchical level, to the Team Leader of Structural Engineering.
A Structural Engineer's main responsibility is engineering (calculating and 3D modeling) shipbuilding structures and arrangements according to the standards set by classification societies and flag states. This involves designing spaces within the yacht's hull and superstructure.
The technical challenges we face are driven by our clients' wishes and dreams, which means that design, style, comfort, and innovation are paramount. You will need a solid understanding of the other elements included in our yachts (Interior/Exterior/Mechanical) around the area you are working on. Additionally, you will need to keep naval architectural aspects in mind.
Success in this role requires the ability to balance attention to detail with an understanding of the broader picture and the integration of various engineering disciplines. It is also beneficial if you can enhance the manufacturability of diverse structural solutions from a technical design perspective. Your responsibilities include:
- Preparing, reviewing, and applying physical models related to construction, load, and materials.
- Analyzing and interpreting drawings.
- Assisting with strength calculations not performed by the FEM department.
- Providing structural advice.
- Ensuring technical correctness and safety.
This organization is responsible for the design, basic engineering, and all calculations needed for custom-built superyachts, serving as the technical and creative hub for research and development. As an engineer, you will make a significant contribution through construction, mechanical engineering, and naval architecture, involving calculations, fitting, and measuring, all while combining insight and ingenuity. Will you help make dreams come true?
- A challenging and responsible position in an organization where technology is at the forefront of current possibilities.
- A gross monthly salary between €3.500 and €4.500 based on knowledge and experience.
- 38 days off, consisting of 25 vacation days and 13 ADV days.
- An organization in full development where your qualities and talents are valued.
- An environment with ample opportunities for further development, such as gaining knowledge in your field and working in integrated engineering teams with the shipyard (this may also mean working at another location occasionally).
- Working for the world market leader in full-custom yacht building.
- The possibility of hybrid working (home or office in North Holland).
- Completed relevant education in shipbuilding at the HBO level.
- Must have experience as a Structural Engineer in newbuild projects for superyachts and/or passenger ships.
- Proficiency in modern 3D CAD and PLM systems (NX is a plus, with internal training provided).
- Knowledge of ship construction, LR, REG LY code, SOLAS, FEM, and vibration analyses (on-the-job training available).
- Strong proactivity and collaboration skills.
- Creativity and problem-solving abilities.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent command of the English language.
