Senior Software Engineer to play a crucial role in developing software that enhances Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) products with C++
The Senior Software Engineer will work as part of a software development team within the R&D organization. They will focus on developing software for our Transmission Electron Microscope (TEM) products, enabling users to manipulate samples in various ways needed for their experiments. This includes loading/unloading, conditioning, and positioning samples while maintaining their integrity.
In an agile environment utilizing SAFe and Scrum frameworks, the team collaborates closely with the Mechatronics/Hardware group. They deliver software solutions to control multiple hardware components, with testing primarily performed on on-site test benches. Acquiring system knowledge and hands-on experience is crucial, as is understanding internal customer demands and translating them into practical tasks.
Key Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:
- Driving the innovative development of new products through design, verification, and validation.
- Analyzing legacy software systems, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing refactoring strategies to enhance code quality, maintainability, and performance.
- Collaborating with product owners, domain specialists, architects, and customers to align requirements and deliver optimal customer value.
- Documenting software designs, architecture, and development processes.
- Conducting code reviews and providing constructive feedback to team members.
- Diagnosing and resolving software defects and issues swiftly to maintain optimal performance.
- Supporting and collaborating with other team members.

Our client's market leading transmission electron microscope is developed at their R&D and manufacturing location in Brainport Eindhoven.

Requirements:
The ideal candidate enjoys working in a multi-disciplinary technical environment and addressing sophisticated problems. If you are passionate about developing high-performance integrated systems, this is an excellent opportunity for you.
- At least 5+ years in a software developer role, with proven C++ expertise and Object-Oriented design techniques/patterns.
- A BSc or MSc degree in Computer Science, Informatics, or a related technical discipline.
- Extensive understanding of software development processes and tools, including writing automated tests.
- Experience with or willingness to learn Model-Based Engineering (Dezyne, Axini).
- Experience with Scrum; knowledge of SAFe is an advantage.
- Experience with sophisticated multidisciplinary (hardware/software) systems.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- A hands-on approach.
