Prototype & Plant Support Engineer - DAF Trucks N.V.

You are part of the Prototype and Plant Support (PPS) team within the Embedded Engineering Support organization. You will play a crucial role in the successful rollout of software to the customers of Embedded Engineering like Vehicle Testing, PACCAR Production Plants all over the globe and Aftersales. To support successful validation on vehicle level of the software releases created by the Data Set Management Team, the PPS team creates vehicle specific releases to make sure the software content matches the vehicle specification. These software releases can be delivered in the form of engineering files, delivery of component releases in the DAF Mainframe, or delivery of pre-programmed control units to the test engineers. At the unfortunate moment of issues or challenges arising in production due to possible software malfunction, PPS team is the first line of contact to support root cause investigation and management of issue resolution. This line of support consists of on the spot logging of vehicle data; researching software documentation and requirements to assess the severity and possible root cause of the issue; contacting stakeholders to align, inform and trigger following actions to solving it. Similarly, the PPS engineer can support on site at the customer, investigating and evaluating issues reported by the DAF Aftersales department. Overall, you are responsible for the successful roll-out to vehicle testing and to minimalize the turn-around time on issues reported by the customers of the DAF Embedded Engineering department.

You are working on multiple projects simultaneously where a wide variety of technologies is applied. You will work with closely with System Owners, Software Engineers, Verification Engineers, Production Engineers, After sales representatives, and managers of different departments all over DAF.

• Technical education on college/university level in Mechanics, Automotive, Electronics or comparable
• Multiple years’ experience in the Automotive work field
• Experience with Vector tooling is and familiarity with tools used within DAF such as Mainframe; TeamCenter; MatLab; CDT; ATI Vision and Vector eASEE is an asset
• Knowledge of automotive systems as overall, heavy-duty is an asset
• Knowledge of embedded software and vehicle networks, automotive embedded software applications and datasets
